The Walking Dead Companion Series Gets a Name

By Walter MackMarch 27, 2015

A companion show for The Walking Dead was announced a while ago. We’ve received updates on new cast members, but until today, the show hasn’t had a name. Today Robert Kirkman (creator of the original The Walking Dead comics series and a producer on the show it inspired) revealed the name of the companion series: Fear the Walking Dead.

The cast so far comprises of Cliff Curtis (Trauma, Missing), Kim Dickens (House of Cards, Gone Girl, Friday Night Lights), Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince), and Alycia Debnam Carey (The 100, Into the Storm).

Fear the Walking Dead mimics The Walking Dead‘s first season with a 6 episode first season of its own. A second season order has already been placed, with no episode count announced. Fear the Walking Dead premiers this summer on AMC. If it works out, and assuming each show remains in their slots, we’ll be treated to the world of the Walking Dead for the majority of the year for the foreseeable future. The Walking Dead normally runs from around October to the end of March. If Fear the Walking Dead sticks to its summer slot, it can cover anywhere from a little over a month and a half to several months, which means there’s only a little bit of waiting before The Walking Dead resumes again.

Fun Fact: Alycia Debnam Carey appeared in Into the Storm with Sarah Wayne Callies, who played Lori Grimes on The Walking Dead for 3 seasons.

Walter is a California native. He is currently in his last year of college pursuing a B.A. in English, but is often mistaken for a freshman...or a middle school tourist on occassion. His earliest gaming experience was Pokemon Red version on the Gameboy color, which he played actively. He would dabble with the Nintendo 64 and Playstation 2 for a bit before transitioning to many years of F2P MMOs. He then moved on to League of Legends, with whom he as an on and off again relationship. He currently spends most of his game time on his Playstation 4. He's also a bit of a Marvel nut.
