The Fantastic 4 Movie Poster is Here!

By Walter MackMarch 24, 2015
Fantastic Four Trailer

Released through the Fantastic Four film’s social media pages, the poster is an updated shot of the final seconds seen in the teaser trailer (linked below). Other than perhaps Reed Richards (Miles Teller), the team’s powers are on display. Benjamin Grimm/The Thing (Jamie Bell) is post transformation, Johnny Storm/The Human Torch (Michael B. Jordan) is flaming on, and Susan Storm/Invisible Woman (Kate Mara) is in the process of going invisible.

This adaptation of Marvel’s First Family has them at a much younger age than their Earth-616 Main Universe counterparts, as they’re based on Earth-1610 (Ultimate Universe). The biggest departure is that Johnny Storm is African American while Susan Storm is Caucasian. This is explained by Susan being adopted by Dr. Franklin Storm. There has been much verbal backlash (mainly by people who seem to want a film that sticks with 100% its origins), but what’s great about Marvel (and I suppose DC) is the existence of a seemingly endless number of alternate realities. I for one am looking forward to this. Michael B. Jordan was phenomenal on Friday Night Lights, Chronicle, and Fruitvale Station. Miles Teller is quickly growing on me too, and I’m sure both Kate Mara and Jamie Bell will be just as great.

Fun Fact: Fantastic 4 marks the second time that Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller will be starring together on a film. Jordan, Teller, and Zac Efron all played best friends in That Awkward Moment.

Fantastic 4 arrives in theaters on August 7th, 2015.

Note: For casual movie watchers who may not be aware, the films rights to Fantastic 4 are currently held by Fox. This means that they are not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Walter is a California native. He is currently in his last year of college pursuing a B.A. in English, but is often mistaken for a freshman...or a middle school tourist on occassion. His earliest gaming experience was Pokemon Red version on the Gameboy color, which he played actively. He would dabble with the Nintendo 64 and Playstation 2 for a bit before transitioning to many years of F2P MMOs. He then moved on to League of Legends, with whom he as an on and off again relationship. He currently spends most of his game time on his Playstation 4. He's also a bit of a Marvel nut.
