More fixes for Assassin’s Creed Unity

By Walter MackFebruary 18, 2015
Assassin's Creed Unity

Ubisoft has rolled out a new patch for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One version of Assassin’s Creed Unity. Various in-game fixes have been made, and both the Assassin’s Creed Initiates website and the Assassin’s Creed Unity companion app (iOS/Android) are no longer a requirement to fully enjoy the game’s contents.

Assassin’s Creed Unity allows players to dress the game’s protagonist, Arno Dorian in the garbs of previous assassins Altair, Ezio, Connor, Edward, and even the Assassin turned Templar, Shay. While this isn’t a new concept at all, these types of outfit unlocks were previously tied in with Ubisoft’s UPlay initative which rewarded players after specific milestones in-game. Unlike its predecessors, Assassin’s Creed Unity was the first current-gen exclusive (Playstation 4, XBox One) and restricted many unlockables and features behind the Unity companion app and the Initiates website. Players without supported iOS or Android devices for the companion apps were both devastated and angered by the new approach. Those who did have compatible devices eventually raised their pitchforks too as both  the Unity companion app and Initiates website crashed regularly, with the latter being taken down for maintenance around Christmas 2014 and staying down for close to 2 months.

Players are welcome to use the Assassin’s Creed Unity companion app or the Initiates site, but there are no longer consequences for those that cannot or don’t wish to.

With the latest patch, fans of the beloved series should see better stability for French Revolution based Assassin’s title. PC related fixes will be coming tomorrow. For complete patch notes, visit the Ubisoft forum.

Walter is a California native. He is currently in his last year of college pursuing a B.A. in English, but is often mistaken for a freshman...or a middle school tourist on occassion. His earliest gaming experience was Pokemon Red version on the Gameboy color, which he played actively. He would dabble with the Nintendo 64 and Playstation 2 for a bit before transitioning to many years of F2P MMOs. He then moved on to League of Legends, with whom he as an on and off again relationship. He currently spends most of his game time on his Playstation 4. He's also a bit of a Marvel nut.
