Despite the challenges that Highguard has faced, which included the premature death of the game, Wildlight Entertainment is still determined to pump out content for the game. Case in point is that a brand-new mode for the game, called Raid Rush, and a balance path, that will be released on February 26, 2026.
Raid Rush is a new round based 5v5 mode where teams alternate between attacking and defending without a looting phase slowing things down. Players upgrade weapons and gear through Trader Flynn between rounds using earned Vesper, while armor scales automatically as the match progresses. It’s designed to be faster, tighter, and more focused than traditional raid formats.
Along with the new game mode, this update also introduces several quality-of-life tweaks and weapon balance adjustments, including a new Comeback Kill bonus, changes to the Reviver Amulet, additional defender respawns on Smuggler’s Den, and weapon balance updates:
- Vanguard – Reducing accuracy and controllability – it’s too dominant across long ranges
- Dynasty – Buffing damage to provide a better tradeoff for the challenging recoil. It now takes one fewer bullet to kill against blue, purple, and gold shields
- Corsair – Reducing the delay before the recoil pattern resets, so that the Corsair can be fired more quickly without sacrificing accuracy
- Longhorn – Increased fire rate to make the Longhorn more versatile, making it more viable at medium and close ranges.
- Longhorn (Repeater) – Hipfire accuracy buffed to satisfy the end game power spike feeling
- Viper – Reducing controllability when using the 2x Optic in order to balance out its long-range power
Highguard is currently playable on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
