What happens when you take the relentless bullet hell chaos of a SHUMP and combine it with a first-person shooter? On paper, that sounds like sensory overload. In practice, Luna Abyss proves it absolutely works. Currently in development by Bonsai Collective, this indie FPS blends tight, movement-focused gunplay with screen-filling projectile patterns that demand precision, awareness, and nerves of steel.
But this is more than just dodging waves of energy blasts. There’s a narrative backbone here that leans into a darker, almost surreal tone. Its high-speed combat is wrapped in a mysterious story that unfolds as you push deeper into its abyssal world.
I somehow missed this game before the demo dropped, but after spending time with both available demos, I’m officially hooked. The combat feels sharp, the pressure is constant, and the concept sticks with you.
There’s currently no release date, but based on what I played, I’m fine with Bonsai Collective taking its time. If this demo is any indication, this could be something special, and I rather that the developer takes as long as its needs. I’ll be here waiting.
