Well, this was a surprise as Konami has revealed a new entry in the Castlevania series, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. This isn’t a remake and is a brand-new entry in the long-running Castlevania franchise. This title is being developed in partnership with Evil Empire and Motion Twin, Belmont’s Curse returns the franchise to its 2D action-exploration roots.
According to Konami, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse takes place in 15th-century Paris, and takes place more than two decades after the events of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. A new successor to the Belmont clan steps into the spotlight, wielding the legendary Vampire Killer whip to defend the city from monstrous creatures and a looming mystical castle.
Players will explore interconnected environments filled with secrets, traps, and hidden paths while battling a variety of enemies.
The iconic whip makes a return and will play a central role once again. In addition to combat, it now serves as a traversal tool, similar to Super Castlevania, allowing players to swing across gaps, access hidden rooms, and reach new areas.
Konami also confirmed that players will have access to different weapons and spells, encouraging exploration and varied combat strategies. Belmont’s Curse celebrates four decades of Castlevania, building on the series’ signature gothic aesthetic with updated visuals and expanded environments.
But my god, we’re finally getting a new Castlevania game, and I can hardly contain it. I can’t wait to get my hands on this.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse launches in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
