Nioh 3, like the previous games in the series, absolutely showers players with loot. Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Epic weapons will drop constantly as you tear through hordes of Yokai. Most players take one look at this excess gear, sell it for a handful of gold, and move on. Unfortunately, that is the wrong approach if you’re trying to level up fast and you aren’t a fan of the grind fest.
If you handle your extra equipment properly, you can turn it into a steady and surprisingly fast source of Amrita, which is used to level up your character. Done correctly, this method can significantly speed up early and mid-game progression.
How This Method Works
Every weapon in the game has a Familiarity meter. As you use a weapon in combat, its Familiarity increases. Most players assume they need to completely fill this meter to maximize Amrita gains, but that is not the case. You only need to partially fill the meter.
Killing off a few enemies is enough to increase the weapon’s Amrita value, with the higher up the enemy is, the more Familiarity you get. Once the Familiarity meter moves even a small amount, the Amrita gained from offering that item jumps noticeably. After those initial hits, the value does not increase much further, so fully maxing Familiarity is unnecessary.
This technique applies to any weapon you find in Nioh 3, regardless of rarity. That said, higher-rarity and higher-level items will always reward more Amrita when offered, after adding some Familiarity to them.
Step-by-Step: Farming Amrita with Weapons
- Pick up any spare weapon or armor piece you do not plan to keep.
- Visit a shrine -> Preparation -> Offering, to check the Amrita value.
- Equip the weapon and hit a few enemies. I recommend getting the Familiarity over 30.
- Revisit a shrine and head back to Preparation -> Offering, to check the new Amrita value.
- Compare it to the value before you used the weapon. You will see that it has increased.
Where a weapon might have had 300 Amrita, you may have over 1000 or more, now. And with so many weapons that you’ll find throughout your time in the game, this equates to thousands of extra Amrita by just doing this one trick. That said, you’ll notice that the Amrita gain plateaus quickly and additional use does not meaningfully increase the value.
This is before I raised the Familiarity on this Kimibanzai Tomonari
And this is after I ran around killing a few enemies, with the Kimibanzai Tomonari value greatly raised.
If you are constantly drowning in loot, this method turns that excess into consistent character progression with minimal effort.
