January in gaming goes into one of two camps. It’s either a final look back at the year that was or full drive of anticipation for what’s coming out in the current year. Even then, the first month of the year tends to be a bit quiet with maybe a few notable game releases towards the end of the month which in past years has featured the likes of Monster Hunter Wilds or Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. 2026 aims to be different, as eight days into the year the New Game Plus showcase takes place featuring 45 games both big and small included.
What the New Game Plus Showcase brings

The New Game Plus showcase is led by a group of six creators Luke Stephens, IamRob, Luality, Blue Thunder, Jake Lucky, and Hun2R who came together and chose games that interested them without charging creators for trailer spots or filling up the time with ads. The showcase will feature a blend of trailers and developer interviews for 45 games. And while many of them will be games that have already been announced, there are some new game reveals as well. The group even put out a hype trailer to get gamers excited for the games set to be shown off.
Games on the Showcase
Although the trailer doesn’t name the featured games that appear on it, gaming sleuths have already discovered quite a number of them. Here’s just a few of the games set to appear during this showcase.
The highly anticipated open-world action RPG Crimson Desert, Bandai Namco’s The Blood of Dawnwalker, both Atomic Heart 2 and its MMO spin-off The Cube, the indie Dinosaur Soulslike Dino Blade, The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, the interesting looking 2D platformer The Eternal Life of Goldman and many more.
The New Game Plus showcase airs on Thursday January 8, 2026 at 4pm ET/1pm PT/9pm GMT on all of their social platforms including Youtube and Twitch.
