2025 was a year of surprises for the gaming industry, in both positive and negative senses. One of the more fan-appreciated moments of the year came from The Game Awards, where Capcom revealed Mega Man Dual Override, the next mainline title for the Blue Bomber. To say this was a “long time coming” is an understatement, because fans had been asking for a new entry for years with no “response.” However, the game did have one big caveat, as the reveal trailer noted that the game wouldn’t come out until 2027. That made many wonder what 2026 would look like for the franchise.
On the Capcom side, the publisher will have plenty of things coming out, including its newest IP, Pragmata. But what about the Blue Bomber? Well, in a special “new year’s aspirations” piece from Famitsu, producer Shingo Izumi had this to say:
“The Mega Man series will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2027. We want to make this year a year of preparation for this. We will be focusing on delivering good news to our fans, so we hope you will look forward to it. We hope you will continue to support the Mega Man series in 2026.”
We do know he means this, as not too long ago, the Star Force Legacy Collection was revealed to have a March 27th release date.
As for Mega Man Dual Override, we’re likely to get some more insights or trailers in 2026, but it all depends on when in 2027 the game will drop. In the meantime, check out our breakdown of all the Easter Eggs you can see within the reveal trailer!
