Team Asano Teases Another New Title Coming In 2026

What could they be making?
By Todd BlackDecember 28, 2025
Team Asano

In today’s gaming world, one could argue that you buy a title not only because of the “name on the box,” but because of who made the game. After all, we’ve seen plenty of “big-name games” fail because the team didn’t do right by gamers in one form or another. Meanwhile, certain teams are basically “failproof,” and that makes every title they make special. One such team is Team Asano, who were made to take Square Enix back to a “simpler time,” with its RPGs, and incredible games have been put forth as a result, including the recent Octopath Traveler 0.

Famitsu interviewed over 100 Japanese developers recently to talk about their hopes and “aspirations” for 2026, and Team Asano Producer Masashi Takahashi noted that for his crew, they have some big things coming, including some stuff you don’t know about yet:

“Have you played Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster, Dragon Quest I & II and Octopath Traveler 0? In 2026, Creative Studio 5 has announced Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, as well as some unannounced titles, so there’s plenty to look forward to!”

That shows just how much faith Square Enix has in the team that they would be given so much space to make all of those games, and that they expect them all to do well. What could they have in mind for 2026 and beyond? We’ll find out soon enough!
