Wolfgang Krauser lost to the hands of Terry Bogard before the events (Fatal Fury 2 / Fatal Fury Special ) of SNK’s Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. However, many fighting game antagonists never really have a chance to stay completely dead. Krauser’s honor code pushed him to off himself despite having a great battle. In his case, the Power Gesyer that Krauser took head on gave him the out he needed to fall to his death from his own castle.
SNK decided to tell another part of the story. The team released another trailer similar to the Art of Fighting trailer and in the same Obari style to potentially hint at new characters for season 2. A man with a phone appears at the scene stating that he might be still alive after the events of both Fatal Fury 2 and Real Bout 2.
“Odds of survival are thought to be high”
Ironically, Obari worked on the Fatal Fury 2 anime that also depicts the final battle between Terry and Krauser. After his first defeat, Terry fell into depression before he settled the score. It’s interesting to see this detail brought out. Especially without seeing who the man is speaking with. In the anime, Geese is the first one to hear about Krauser’s death. It could be one of Geese’s ex bodyguards Ropper or Hopper.
To be honest, it’s good to see SNK bring back an iconic boss back into the mix if this is true. Usually, this would be what we’d see for more extended coverage on characters. Chun-Li and Ken both got the same treatment for their arrivals. Krauser has shown face in the King of Fighters with both low and high fireballs along with a command grab or two. The pressure the behemoth can dish out is fantastic in later games.
With both teasers in the wild, it’s assumed that we already know who the first 3 characters are for Season 2 which was announced.
- Robert Garcia (coin flip) – Art of Fighting
- Ryo or Takuma (Tengu Mask) – Art of Fighting
- Wolfgang Krauser
Ryo and Robert would be guests since they’re coming from Art of Fighting, yet they have been seen in the City of the Wolves game in Marco’s ending.
Both games live in the same universe with Fatal Fury taking place later on at about maybe 10 or so years into the future of South Town from Art of Fighting. Ryo don’t look that old, though. Mr. Big is solid proof that there will be more involvement that isn’t just Kyokougen practitioner Marco joining the King of Fighters tournament in present day. Two slots would remain for potential legacy characters to return.

The next set of news could be coming in the form of an announcement from the SNK World Championship first part on January 29th.
