Cronos: The New Dawn Is Getting an Easy Mode in Early 2026

While I am a massive fan of Cronos: The New Dawn, I’ve always understood why some players struggled to stick with it. The game’s relentless difficulty heightens its horror, but for players who wanted to focus on the story and atmosphere, that same challenge often became more frustrating than engaging. Now, Bloober Team has acknowledged this and has announced it is working on a new game mode for the game.

Slated for early 2026, the developer will introduce Temporal Diver Mode, an optional Easy Mode designed for players who want to experience the narrative, worldbuilding, and psychological tension without the constant pressure of punishing combat.

To accompany the announcement, Bloober Team released a new trailer explaining the reasoning behind the mode’s addition, and it’s packed with subtle lore nods and Easter eggs longtime fans will appreciate.

It’s a meaningful change that opens the door for players who previously bounced off the game to finally see why we praised Cronos: The New Dawn so highly in The Outerhaven’s review, ranking it among the strongest sci-fi horror experiences I’ve played in years, right up there with Dead Space 2, which is one of my favorite games of all time.

Hey There Travelers,

Chronos: The New Dawn was a game developed to challenge the players. But we’ve heard your voices, and we know that some of us want to explore the story behind the game in your own pace.

So right now, we are working on a difficulty setting that will be introduced in early 2026.

Such is our calling.

Meanwhile, here I sit, hoping for some meaningful DLC for the game, as I loved every minute of it and I want more.

Cronos: The New Dawn is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. If you enjoy sci-fi horror but found the difficulty overwhelming, Temporal Diver Mode may finally be the right way in.
