It was announced that Neon Genesis Evangelion will receive a brand-new 13-minute anime short to celebrate the series’ 30th anniversary. The announcement was made at the Evangelion:30+; 30th Anniversary of Evangelion Festival.
Hideaki Anno is heavily involved in the episode as he is listed as the planner, scriptwriter, and chief supervisor. Naoyuki Asano is directing the short.
The short episode will air during the anniversary event from February 21-23. The event will also feature an exhibition area, a stage area, merchandise, and Studio Khara’s creators.
During this anniversary, the anime’s six films will be re-airing throughout theaters in Japan.
