Absolum 1.1 Update Adds Mystic Ordeals, Corrupted Regions, Elite Mounts, and More

Not too long ago, I reported that Dotemu, Guard Crush Games, and Supamonks had confirmed there were plans for more content coming to their original beat ’em up adventure, Absolum. I was completely blown away by the game, and even after sinking dozens of hours into it, I wanted more. Thankfully, Dotemu was already thinking ahead.

Now, Dotemu has officially revealed what’s coming with the Absolum 1.1 update, set to arrive in early 2026. And judging by what’s been shown, this update is all about pushing players further than ever before.

So, What’s New in Absolum 1.1?

Some of this content was teased a few months back, but the curtain has now been fully pulled away. The headline feature is Mystic Ordeals, which introduce a new set of preset challenges while also giving players the ability to customize their own ordeals.

Absolum corrupted areas

If you previously stumbled across random portals during your journey, that system is being reworked entirely. The corruption has now spread directly into the land of Talamh itself. As you explore, you’ll encounter corrupted regions clearly marked on Maugis’ map. These areas are significantly more dangerous, filled with tougher enemies, but they also offer far greater rewards for Rebels willing to take the risk.

How you choose to approach your journey matters more than ever. You can avoid corrupted regions altogether or lean into them to increase both the challenge and the loot. Thanks to Mystic Ordeals, players can even control how frequently these corrupted regions appear. If you’re feeling especially bold, you can corrupt the entire world for the ultimate test and an avalanche of rewards, which honestly sounds like a blast.

As you explore Talamh, you’ll also encounter Elite mounts roaming the wild. These beasts are bigger, faster, and far more dangerous than anything you’ve faced before, with new ways to deal serious damage to the Crimson Order. Elite mounts come equipped with upgraded attacks designed to help you tear through the hordes ahead.

The update also adds new emotes, some of which include unique voice lines that give them extra personality. You can choose your emote pack when selecting your hero at the campfire, making communication and coordination between Rebel cells much easier.

Absolum new hero skins

On top of that, every hero is receiving new skins. These can be unlocked through the sacred tree or earned by completing in-game challenges. Whether you want to show off your progress or give your favorite hero a fresh look, there are plenty of new designs waiting to be unlocked.

All of this makes Absolum 1.1 a substantial update, but I still can’t help wondering what comes next for the story. Will we finally see a continuation of Karl’s attempt to restart his kingdom? And seriously, what does “27 Cycles” actually mean?

If you haven’t yet joined the rebellion, be sure to check out our Absolum review to see why the game has captured the attention of so many players. It’s personally one of my top three favorite games of 2025 and easily one of my favorite beat ’em ups of all time.
