Mega Man: Dual Override Revealed, Open Contest to Design the Next Robot Master

Fans of the Blue Bomber have been asking for a new Mega Man game almost as long as I have been asking for a new F-Zero. While that wish still has not materialized, Capcom has finally delivered some good news with the reveal of Mega Man: Dual Override. Yes, a brand-new Mega Man title has been officially announced.

Details are still scarce, but we do know that Mega Man: Dual Override is a long way off, with Capcom targeting a 2027 release.

Also, kudos to you for knowing your Mega Man stuff if you went ape shit when you noticed the words “DLN.001” as the password on the door. For those not in the know, this stands for the first robot master that Doctor Light had created, which was Cut Man.

Check out the trailer below.

And honestly, Mega Man fans earned this one. With the last mainline entry, Mega Man 11, releasing back in 2018, this announcement feels like long-overdue vindication for everyone who has been waiting patiently for the Blue Bomber’s return.

Update: Well, that was fast. In addition to the reveal, Capcom has announced that it is holding a contest to design a robot master for the upcoming Mega Man: Dual Override game. This contest runs from December 11, 2025, to January 2026 and is open right now, and anyone with a bit of artistic talent located in Japan, the Americas, Europe, and Asia. To enter, head over Mega Man: Dual Override Robot Master Design Contest for more info.
