Crunchyroll Announces the End of Free Ad-Supported Streaming

By Josh PiedraDecember 9, 2025
Crunchyroll

Crunchyroll announced via an advertisement on its platform that it will end its free ad-supported streaming tier as of December 31. This will leave members with only paid subscription tier options. As of now, none of the paid subscription tiers will be changing.

This stems from a previous announcement made back in March 2022, where it stated that free ad-supported viewing for all shows would no longer be automatically offered. Since then, it has shifted to a selected-show format to determine which series users can watch for free with ads.

Now, in just a few short weeks, all of that comes to an end.
