2.5D cyberpunk action-adventure title Replaced now has A release date

By Keith MitchellDecember 4, 2025
REPLACED Game - Sad Cat Studios

After years of waiting, Replaced finally has a confirmed release date. A new trailer revealed that it will launch on March 12, 2026. This 2.5D cyberpunk action-adventure title has been one of the most anticipated indie releases for years, and this marks the first firm date the developers have given in a long time.

Replaced is a cinematic sci fi action platformer set in an alternate 1980s world shaped by corruption, corporate rule, and strict authoritarian control. The game mixes fluid combat with highly stylized pixel art and follows an AI named R.E.A.C.H that becomes trapped inside a human body. As it searches for answers, the story explores identity, humanity, and survival within a broken future.

Replaced has been delayed several times since its reveal. The game was originally planned for 2022, but the development team was heavily affected by the Russo Ukrainian war, which forced a significant shift in their production plans. That event caused the first major delay into 2023.

From there, the game slipped again into 2024, then into 2025, and finally into its current window in spring 2026. In total, Replaced has been delayed five times, making it one of the most frequently postponed indie titles in recent memory.

I remember covering this game when it was first announced back in 2021, then adding it to one of my most anticipated games of 2023. I then found myself writing about it slipping into 2024, and again into 2025. It has been a long journey both for the developers and for everyone who has been following it from the start. I can only hope that all of these delays were worth the wait and that the final release delivers the experience so many of us have been imagining.

Despite the long wait, the new release date signals real progress. Fans can finally look forward to experiencing the world of Replaced in early 2026.
