Donkey Kong Bananza and Nintendo Switch 2 Ranked Highly In US Black Friday Sales

Seems right to us!
By Todd BlackDecember 2, 2025
Donkey Kong Bananza, Nintendo Switch 2

When the Nintendo Switch 2 came out in June, many saw it as a “strategic move” by The Big N for multiple reasons. First, it would get the “Summer sales” via those who had plenty of time during the Summer to play video games, and second, it would allow Nintendo to build up stock for the inevitable holiday rush during Black Friday and Christmas. While the final numbers are far from certain, it does seem the console has done well in the United States during that period, and it’s not alone, as Donkey Kong Bananza was also cited to have done well!

This came via a report from Adobe Analytics, where they did a non-numerical ranking of “key drivers of holiday spending” for the US during the Black Friday period, and both the Nintendo Switch 2 and Donkey Kong Bananza were in the top 7 of those rankings.

For the Switch 2, that might not seem odd, as it’s on a record pace for the best-selling console ever, but why is Donkey Kong’s game doing so well? First, it may have honestly been a case of people having to wait to buy the game due to finances and potential Black Friday deals. Second, the game has gotten some serious love since its release in July, including being nominated for “Game of the Year” by many outlets. Thus, many possibly heard about that and decided to give it a shot this holiday season.

I know I liked it, as I gave it a perfect score in my review! Hopefully, we’ll get some “hard data” on the sales figures for both the console and the game soon enough to see just how well they did.
