When the Nintendo Switch 2 was first announced, there were some key big-name titles announced with it to showcase just what the console would have for gamers to enjoy, and all of those titles have lived up to the hype so far. However, in the middle of all of that was a sole 3rd-party exclusive by the team at FromSoftware. The game was called The Duskbloods and would be headed up by Hidetaka Miyazaki. The game would be a unique PvPvE title and was slated to arrive in 2026 at some point. Since then, though, we’ve heard nothing.
However, a leak has arrived that may grant us more insight into what the game is and how long FromSoftware has been working on it. A Chinese journalist with some credibility in the gaming industry, when it comes to leaks, made the reveal, and ZioStorm translated it to:
“From what I know, The Duskbloods was greenlit even earlier than the marketing period for Sekiro’s release. It is the FromSoftware title that has spent the longest time purely on gameplay prototyping and validation among all of their games so far. Although its PVE and PVP, it reportedly contains many innovative elements the team themselves are very proud of.”
That says quite a bit, including that this is yet another title that FromSoftware wants to be “as perfect as possible” before release, which fits in with Nintendo’s mindset perfectly, as I noted on a recent episode of NEP.
As for why the game has been “silent” since its announcement earlier this year, that would be because of the team’s focus on Elden Ring: Nightreign and its DLC. Once that’s wrapped before the year ends, we’ll likely hear more about it.
