Bestiary App Brings Fresh Hunts to The Witcher: Old World

Go On Board launches a free digital expansion on iOS & Android

Go On Board has officially released Bestiary, a free mobile companion app that expands the gameplay of The Witcher: Old World. Available now on Google Play and the App Store, this new digital tool adds story flavor, tactical depth, and audio-driven immersion to the best-selling Witcher board game – all without charging players a single oren.

Bestiary arrives five years after the original crowdfunding campaign, proving that Go On Board is still committed to growing the game long after its retail success. And this time, the expansion didn’t come from a stretch goal – it came directly from the community.

A Digital Tool Shaped by the Fans

According to Go On Board, the Old World community was the driving force behind the creation of Bestiary. Fans have been actively engaged across forums, Discord, and social media, continuing to breathe life into the game long after its release. That passion convinced the studio to build something new – and to make it entirely free.

“The Bestiary was created because we see how much players live in the Old World, not as a closed product… The launch in mobile stores is just the first step,” says Łukasz Kilian, Product Owner at Go On Board. “Now we want to listen to what they have to say about the app.”

The team worked directly with players throughout development, gathering feedback, ideas, and expectations. It wasn’t a crowdfunding campaign, but the community’s influence shaped the final product just as strongly.

New Encounters, Atmosphere, and Tactical Choices

Bestiary enriches The Witcher: Old World with several new digital elements:

  • Unique monster behaviors that change how each battle plays out
  • Pre-fight narrative scenes, including tracking beasts, gathering intel, and preparing for hunts
  • A soundtrack and classic audio from the Witcher universe
  • Atmospheric illustrations that enhance immersion at the table

These additions deepen the tactical combat the game is known for while layering in extra story beats designed specifically for the app. It’s optional, free, and meant to evolve alongside the community that inspired it.

Built for a Living World

Go On Board emphasizes that Bestiary is a living module – not a one-and-done feature drop. The team plans to expand the app over time based on ongoing community feedback, reinforcing their commitment to co-creating content with fans.

“The activity of our community was the greatest inspiration,” says Maciej “Zuch” Mazurek, Community Management Coordinator. Testers provided “a wealth of valuable feedback,” helping refine the app before launch.

About The Witcher: Old World

Set long before Geralt’s time, The Witcher: Old World lets players become adepts of different witcher schools as they explore the Continent, battle monsters, make tough decisions, and occasionally throw down with rival witchers. The game blends tactical duels, adventures, and exploration – and Bestiary now adds a new, fully optional layer to that experience.

Availability

Bestiary is live now on:

  • Google Play (Android)
  • App Store (iOS)

Free. Global. No microtransactions. No nonsense.
