KYOTO NIPPON FESTIVAL 2026 – A Garden Blooming Beyond Time Begins in May 2026

By Josh PiedraNovember 20, 2025

From Sunday, February 1, 2026, to Sunday, May 24, 2026, the “KYOTO NIPPON FESTIVAL 2026 – A Garden Blooming Beyond Time -” will be held at Kitano Tenmangū Shrine.

Born in 2016, this festival has been broadcasting Japan’s “beauty” and “culture” from Kyoto to the world. Held annually at the historic Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, it presents diverse cultural programs and will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2026.

Kyoto

For this anniversary year, the creative team EiM—featuring artist Mika Ninagawa, Hiroaki Miyata, and specialists across various fields—will participate.

At Kitano Tenmangū’s Fūgetsuden Hall, Mika Ninagawa with EiM will team up with dance company DAZZLE to present the immersive theater performance ‘Grand Tea Gathering of the Flowered Night’

Mika Ninagawa’s vibrantly colored world will fuse with DAZZLE’s physical expression, creating a unique experience where history, tradition, and art intersect, set against the backdrop of springtime at Kitano Tenmangu Shrine.

Furthermore, at the “Flower Garden” within the Three Gardens of Snow, Moon, and Flowers and the Plum Blossom Garden, an installation by Mika Ninagawa with EiM will be displayed. It reconstructs the plum blossoms, blooming magnificently with the arrival of spring, as an art of light and color.

Tickets for both programs will go on sale starting Saturday, November 15 at 10:00 AM. For ticket sales details, please refer to the official website
