When I first heard that a Legend of Zelda Movie was coming, I was happy, but not surprised. Mario had already gotten a huge animated film, and it made sense that Link would be next. However, what did surprise me was the reveal that it would be a live-action movie. That’s a huge risk for various reasons, and it made me curious how things would look. Thankfully, Shigeru Miyamoto himself went to Twitter to reveal the first official images showing off Link and Zelda in their live-action forms:
Filming is on track for the film’s release on May 7, 2027. It will take a while until the release, so we would be grateful if you would wait patiently and look forward to it (2/2).

To be honest…that looks pretty good. Granted, these are intentionally shown pictures, so it’s hard to know how the two will “be like” as things start moving, but that’s a pretty good indication of how things will look aesthetically.
For example, Link’s got the classic green tunic look going, while Zelda looks a fusion of various past forms, including her garb from Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Miyamoto asking for patience with the Legend of Zelda Movie is totally fair, too, as this is a project that MUST be done properly.
