As I’ve noted in recent posts, the Nintendo Switch 2 is on fire right now, and its gaming lineup is growing with each month that passes. 2026 will be a potentially defining year for the console, as the system will have a full calendar year to put out great games. One of those games will be Pokemon Pokopia, which was a surprise announcement from the last Nintendo Direct. Previously, it was given a release window of 2026. But now, Nintendo has made it official that the game will drop on March 5th, 2026.

Just as important, on the Nintendo Store, you can officially pre-order the title. As if that wasn’t enough, Nintendo revealed that the next trailer for the game will drop on Thursday, and it’ll apparently be a robust gameplay trailer to show all you can do in the game. Here’s a synopsis from the game’s store page:

“Play as a Ditto that has taken the appearance of a human! Find and befriend your fellow Pokémon and carve out a life for yourself by learning their moves to shape the land. Use Bulbasaur’s Leafage to make wild grass grow, keep it healthy with Squirtle’s Water Gun, and more. As nature flourishes, more Pokémon will appear for you to meet and learn from!

Build homes, farm crops, and more in a world with days, nights, and varied weather

Collect rocks and wood to build with, till the fields to grow delicious crops, build homes for the Pokémon you meet…there’s so much to do here!”

Now, there is one controversy at play here, as it appears that Pokemon Pokopia might be solely a digital and key-card title, with no true physical copy being released. This has not been fully confirmed by Nintendo, though, so please be patient on this matter.
