Nintendo has been on fire since June, not that it wasn’t on fire before then, mind you, with all the hits both in and out of gaming that they’ve done. Next year will be a big year for them also, based on the Switch 2 games coming out, and the release of the Super Mario Galaxy Movie next April. The film is the follow-up to the first animated film by Illumination, with Shigeru Miyamoto helping, of course. What might surprise you, though, is that a Nintendo Direct will welcome the first trailer when it drops on Wednesday. Here’s Nintendo with the official announcement:
Join us on Wednesday, Nov 12, at 6am PT for the Nintendo Direct featuring the world premiere of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie official trailer. Please note that no game information will be included in this presentation.

So, yeah, I didn’t see that coming! It says a lot that they’re dropping the first trailer before the holiday season, as they’re likely trying to capitalize on hype and make it one of the must-see films of 2026. Based on how they handled things with the last film, we might not just get a trailer, but a true release date outside of “April 2026” and see who might voice Rosalina in the Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
We’ll cover the event on Wednesday, no matter what.
