Saturday! Saturday! Saturday! Saturday! Saturday night is alright for FIGHTING!!! And tonight, AEW brought ALL THE FIGHTS in what might be one of its best Collisions ever! The Todd is here once more, and I’m ready to dish on everything with my AEW Collision Recap!

So, let’s begin with our future match, FTR vs. The BANG BANG GANG!!!
Now, AEW historians (like myself) know that this is a fun callback to the original time that FTR faced Bullet Club Gold (then Juice Robinson and Jay White…who hopefully will return soon!), and while this was not that match…it was still really good. The crowd was lit from the start and 100% behind Juice and Austin.
It was a back-and-forth fight with lots of nice spots and moments, but the best part about all of it was that…The Bang Bang Gang won!!! Yeah, that happened thanks to Jetspeed, Bandido, and Gravity. Why does that matter? Well, being honest, wrestling can be predictable when it comes to its outcomes, and so it was great to see this legit upset. Now, I DON’T want the Bang Bang Gang in the Full Gear title match, as this should be 1-on-1, but it gives the BBG some momentum, and it proves why you ALWAYS have to watch AEW, because you never know what you’ll see happen each week.
It's @BandidoWrestler, @GravityLuchador and the consequences of Stokely's actions!

Speaking of which, just when you thought that this might have been the highlight of the night…AEW went…HOLD MY SICKO BRAND BEER!!!!
This was an unexpected surprise, given that they JUST announced Fletcher/Briscoe 6 at Full Gear, with a couple of stipulations to make things “spicy,” on AEW Dynamite. And so, this COULD have been just “another title match” to pad Kyle’s stats.
Instead, they made this match further proof that Kyle Fletcher is a worthy champion and that Ace Austin is yet another member of the “this is the future of AEW” club. Many people, including myself, wondered why AEW brought in Ace Austin only to not use him much after making him “All Elite.” But the answer was right there: “The timing wasn’t right to push him hard.” So, they put him in the Bang Bang Gang, had him do a banger match against Bryan Keith, and then had him go full-tilt with Kyle to showcase his skills once again.
I loved this match, and the crowd loved it, too, as they were chanting “This Is Awesome!” And when you see things like this…
UNBELIEVABLE MANUEVER FROM @THE_ACE_AUSTIN!

…you can easily see why. They even had Ace Austin kick out of the Brainbuster! I loved that. Yes, we all knew Kyle would win in the end, and he did, but it was a great match that was absolutely “For The Sickos,” and this was far from the last great match of the night…
Oh, one more thing…OKADA?!??!?!? Why are you trying to break up the marriage between Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita????
After #AEWDynamite, TNT Champion @kylefletcherpro addressed his #AEWFullGear stipulation against @SussexCoChicken, but #AEW Unified Champion @rainmakerXokada had other ideas… introducing “ProtOkada.” 💥

Stop being a homewrecker! We’ll send Yuka Sakazaki after you for your crimes!!!
Another person who might “pay for their crimes” is Mercedes Mone, because Kris Standlander is “locked in” on her…but she doesn’t know if Mone can say the same…
Next up was TayJay in action. I won’t talk too much about this because it was a quick squash match. It makes me wonder, though, if this is the beginning of them going heel. After all, they were one of the original AEW women’s tag teams, and it’d be odd for them to beat Megan Bayne and Marina Shafir when they finally clash. Could they turn heel to make things more interesting on their end and set up a run toward the titles in the future? Hard to say…
What isn’t hard to say, though, is that this interaction between the Death Riders and Don Callis was masterfully done.
The situation was tense after #AEWDynamite last Wednesday between the Death Riders & @TheDonCallis & the TNT Champion @kylefletcherpro!

…yeah, Mox doesn’t need “favors,” least of all from you, Don!!!
I need a palette cleanse…oh, how about an inspiring speech from our “Minion Overlord,” Athena?
The @ringofhonor Women’s World Champion @AthenaPalmer_FG is still fuming after being eliminated from the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Title Tournament, and now her anger is aimed at @harleycameron_! 🔥

Sorry that the “Minion Training” never went away, Lexi. Better luck resisting her next time!
Alright, back to the wrestling! As started on Dynamite, both the men and the women were going through a set of matches to see who would get the advantage going into Blood and Guts next week. On the women’s side, Megan Bayne beat Mina to set her side up 1-0, so it was up to Jamie Hayter to take out Skye Blue to give her side a chance.
Give Skye Blue all the credit, as she’s come a long way in both moves, presentation, and proving herself able to go up against any opponent. It probably doesn’t hurt that she likely trains with Kyle Fletcher, as they’re a couple.
Anyway, this was a great match that went almost exactly 10 minutes (which is five times the length a “certain other company” did on their “premiere show” last night..) and with Hayter getting the win, it ensured the final women’s match of the night (that makes three on one Collision!), and they wasted no time getting into it!
Hayterade gets @jmehytr the win, but the Triangle of Madness has descended on the former Women's World Champion!

Yep! They went RIGHT into the final match of the women’s set, and guess what? This one went EVEN LONGER! I love that, as it once again highlights just how far the women’s division has come not only in the ring, but how much space on a show they’re given to showcase themselves.
Much like Sky Blue, Harley has been growing a lot since coming to AEW, and Thekla fits AEW like a glove. They had a fun match, and with another devastating spear…um…Spider Spear? Either way, Thekla won, and now her team has the advantage going into the STACKED women’s Blood and Guts next week.
And as we head toward Full Gear, the “Tailgate Brawl” condition that started a few PPVs back will continue, and it appears that a familiar duo will be a part of it…whether they like it or not…
Tension is still high between @Bowens_Official & @PlatinumMax as they weigh in on the #AEWFullGear Tailgate Brawl, but @LexyNair has some interesting data for the duo! 👀

Finally, the Collision main event was…
…the finals of the men’s Blood and Guts series! This is a rematch from not too long ago, but this was well worth the runback, especially given what happened at the end.
Roderick Strong is easily one of the best to ever do it, but he never really gets the appreciation he deserves. Matches like this with Mox highlight why he really is deserving of that credit. Backbreakers all over the place, putting Daniel Garcia through a table when he tried to interfere…
THERE GOES DANIEL GARCIA!

…and when all seemed lost and the match a “foregone conclusion” with the Death Riders interfering and all that…well…someone came in to give Roddy an “assist…”
.@DarbyAllin helps @RoderickStrong get the win and his team get the advantage for Blood & Guts!

That’s right! Roddy won! And now, the Conglomeration and Darby will have the advantage going into Blood & Guts! So that’s TWO big upsets on AEW Collision tonight.
Oh, and if you want to know another reason why I think this was one of the “best AEW Collision episodes ever,” that’s because there was not only quality wrestling from top to bottom, but there was a LOT of it! If my math is correct (and I’m pretty sure it is…), there was an HOUR and TEN MINUTES of wrestling tonight. All on free TV, and it was pretty much all PPV quality.
That’s why I love AEW, because they did this on a “random Saturday night” because they knew that the Texas crowd (which was great) wanted to enjoy WRESTLING, and how’s that for a perfect way to close out my AEW Collision Recap? Let me know your thoughts on the night in the comments below!
