How Are We Today? Launches on PBS Starring RWBY’s Barbara Dunkelman

By Josh PiedraOctober 10, 2025

How Are We Today?, a show dedicated to mental health education, launched on PBS coast-to-coast. The show stars Barbara Dunkelman, who voices Yang Xiao Long, from the hit anime series RWBY.

In addition, the show also stars fellow Rooster Teeth alums Mariel Salcedo and Elyse Willems. Salcedo worked in the broadcast division of Rooster Teeth while Willems was a cast member and a producer at Funhaus, a division of Rooster Teeth.

How Are We Today? looks to make mental health education witty and fun. It has been described as Mister Rogers meets Friends, with a talking beaver and sitcom-style pacing. The show also utilizes visual storytelling that simplifies difficult topics and science-based tools that viewers can use.

The show was created by Tyler Cole and features Dr. Erin Newins, a clinical psychologist. Based in Austin, Texas, the show’s goal is to blend heartfelt storytelling with clinical insight to make mental health support more accessible while making it feel more human and real.
