The legacy of Game of Thrones will forever be complicated. Most agree that the initial 5-6 seasons were incredible and epic. But by the final season…? Yeah, not so much. House of the Dragon has had two seasons, and many are hoping that Season 3 takes things in the direction they desire. And yet, the land of Westeros still has more tales to tell, with the newest one coming in January via A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. If you’re not familiar with this one, that’s okay; there were many spinoffs that were planned but never happened. Just as important, this wasn’t from a major book, but from some novellas that George R.R. Martin wrote.
In this tale, we met Ser Duncan the Tall, who is a Hedge Knight. If you don’t know the lore, that means he’s technically a sellsword, but he has been knighted. He’s not sure about his place in the world, especially after getting a squire in the form of the “unique” young one known as “Egg.” The first teaser trailer for the show has dropped, and highlights what you can expect in the six-episode season. Specifically, there will be a tournament that Ser Duncan enters, and he’ll do his best not to embarrass himself and prove that he’s a knight worth praising.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms arrives on HBO/HBO Max on January 18th.
