If you live in the New York City area and are a fan of manga and anime, you’re not going to want to miss your chance to visit Kodansha House. The pop-up event in SoHo opens its doors to the public beginning today and is completely free of charge. But you have to act fast because October 19 will be its final day. The two-week event features a variety of scheduled events, some of which require tickets and have already sold out. You can read more about scheduled events on the official website.
But fret not, Kodansha House features lots of fun things for you to do while casually visiting that don’t require a ticket. One of the main attractions is a manga library that features every available volume for dozens of manga. Take a seat and read through Attack on Titan, Blue Lock, Wotakoi, and many other series.
Just behind the manga library is a sort of manga museum where some of Kodansha’s most popular series are put on display. Relive moments from Fire Force, Ghost in the Shell, and more. Tucked in the corner are photography booths for Blue Lock and Ghost in the Shell, an Attack on Titan model, and Tachikoma replicas.
But that’s not all, the lower level features an arcade. Play Donkey Kong, Galaga, Mortal Kombat, and more. The lower level also includes a bunch of cool settings to chill.
There is also a special booth hosted by Kinokuniya, where you can purchase books, shirts, and more. There are currently two promotions going on if you purchase at the event. The first is for the upcoming release of Mushishi Collector’s Edition. The first volume doesn’t release until November 4, but you can purchase both the standard edition and a Kinokuniya special edition early at Kodansha House.
If you purchase either edition or the Mushishi art book, you’ll receive a free tote bag. You’ll also receive a free shipping bag featuring Blue Lock if you spend at least $25. Both promotions are while supplies last.
This is not an event that you will want to miss.
