Bloober Team Confirms Silent Hill 1 Project in Development, Want to Become the Leader of Horror Games

Fans of Silent Hill and Bloober Team received exciting news during the studio’s latest investor chat, where company president Piotr Babieno and vice president Karolina Nowak confirmed a new project tied to the franchise. The entirety of the investor chat has been posted on Stockwatch.

While the team didn’t outright call it a remake, the discussion referenced a “Silent Hill 1 project”, which strongly suggests the long-rumored Silent Hill remake. With Silent Hill 2 Remake proving to be an instant hit and a modern classic, fans have been eager for Konami and Bloober Team to revisit the original survival horror title that started it all.

We have two first party production teams, one of whom is working on the Silent Hill 1 project, and the other has started working on the next project. 5 projects are currently being implemented as part of the second party.

Bloober’s board explained that the company currently has two first-party production teams. One of those is working on the Silent Hill 1 project, while the other has already moved on to a new, undisclosed game. Alongside those, five additional second-party projects are also in the works, signaling a very busy slate for the studio.

The investor chat also touched on Cronos: The New Dawn. Continued development such as DLC for the game is not active at the moment, as its team has been reassigned to other projects. However, Bloober Team emphasized the game sold well, with 25% being on PC, and the rest on console. The developer has stated that it wants to return to the IP in the future, with possible crossover promotions and collaborations being considered.

We are planning a number of marketing activities related to Cronos – also, naturally, during the Halloween period. In the case of Cronos, sales on consoles dominate, PC is about 25%. We don’t have precise sales data from the boxes yet.

But the big take away here is that Bloober Team has higher and more lofty plans, as it has been stated that it wants to be come the leader in the horror gaming genre. With its first attempt with the medium, and then completely knocking it out of the part, you can see how it has not only learned from working on its first game, but also as working on existing IPs such as the Silent Hill 2 remake. It’s going to be an interesting battle with Capcom and Konami typically talked about when it comes to horror games, with Silent Hill and Resident Evil.

Our goal is to become a leader in the horror genre, which translates into a strategy of releasing games in increasingly shorter periods between releases. The second party department is supposed to help with this, among others. We are also working on big titles as part of it, so we should not expect a longer downtime between big releases :)

For now, the big takeaway is clear: Bloober Team is not slowing down, and fans can look forward to a fresh take on one of the most iconic horror games of all time.
