Pokemon Legends Z-A Crossover With CMLL Has Arrived

Let's LUCHA!!!
By Todd BlackSeptember 26, 2025
Pokemon Legends Z-A, CMLL

As a diehard Pokémon fan and a man who loves good wrestling (like AEW...), it was truly a joyous thing when I learned that the world’s oldest wrestling promotion, CMLL, was teaming up with The Pokémon Company to host a special event focused on the upcoming Pokemon Legends Z-A title. The event would feature the Lucha Libre wrestlers not only doing their thing in the ring, but dressing up their gear to reflect certain Pokémon, and more. The event happened in Mexico on Thursday night, and it was put on YouTube for free for people to watch!

And lest you think that CMLL only “played along” with things, you’d be wrong. Not only were Pikachu and Eevee at the show and dancing as the wrestlers came out to perform, multiple wrestlers came out dressed as Pokémon in one form or another, including the main event wrestlers of Hechicero and Mistico, who you can see in their gear below:

This pairing is important because Pokemon Legends Z-A revealed a while back that Hawlucha was getting a Mega Evolution and they based an entire trailer around Hawlucha vs. Machamp. So, this is a literal example of “life imitating art,” and I love it.

Plus, as you’ll see in the video event below, the ring was decorated with the Poké Ball logo, as were the various ramps and screens to make it clear that Pokémon was truly in the house. Just so you know, the event was broadcast in Spanish, but the matches were incredible, and they even gave away a Pokémon-themed belt to the winner of the main event. Watch it below!
