With Tokyo Game Show 2025 underway, Xbox has finally revealed the prices for its upcoming handheld PC gaming devices made in partnership with Asus: the Xbox Ally and the Xbox Ally X. And if you thought handheld gaming was already pricey, you might want to sit down.
As of today, Best Buy has listed both the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X, and neither comes cheap. Adding to that, according to Variety, the ROG Xbox Ally X is a Best Buy exclusive, meaning you’ll only be able to purchase it from the retailer. The ROG Xbox Ally is priced at $599.99, making it the more accessible option. Meanwhile, the ROG Xbox Ally X comes in at $999.99, a price points that many gamers previously said would be a deal-breaker. Both will be available on October 16, 2025.
However, keep in mind that the ROG Xbox Ally X also has the extra AI that will help Auto SR (Super Resolution / upscaling), AI-powered highlight reveals. One feature will be so-so, the other, if it works as intended, will do great things to upscale games, and provide better frame rates. It’s up to you to decide if those features are worth the extra money.

Personally, I’m conflicted. I expected the ROG Xbox Ally X to land at $1,000, and I’ve said as much plenty of times. After going hands-on with during PAX West 2025, I’ve grown to appreciate the ergonomics, compared to ROG Ally X I already own.
The big question now is whether Xbox fans will buy into these devices expecting a true Xbox console experience, only to realize they’re really designed for Xbox’s PC gaming ecosystem. It’ll be interesting to see how sales shake out.
