The Tokyo Game Show is going on right now, and many different games are being shown off and talked about. One of those titles is the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment, which will further break down the tale of Zelda’s trip to the earliest days of Hyrule and her attempts to stop Ganondorf. At TGS, a demo is playable, and footage of the demo has been released online. In it, we see Princess Zelda, King Rauru, and his sister Mineru within the latter’s workshop, gathering materials, before they head into The Depths to see what’s within.
What follows is a quick look not only at the interactions between the three but also at how Zelda can fight in combat. As shown in the most recent trailer, she and other characters will be able to use Zonai devices to help fight foes, including using lightning and fire elements to strike them down. In the demo, we see Zelda swap between these devices and then focus on her own personal weapon and magic.

The reasons this is cool are many-fold. First, Zelda will clearly play entirely differently than Age of Calamity because she’s not using the Shiekah Slate and the abilities it granted her. Second, this means that there’s even more strategy and options with weapons and combos to take down enemies and bosses. Finally, with all the characters that will undoubtedly be playable, one has to wonder how many devices we’ll get, and all the ways we can use them.
Seeing the game run so smoothly, and using voice acting for moments in and out of battle, is also a welcome sight. Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 6th.
