The Entire Monster Hunter Stories Series of Games Are Coming to Xbox

By Sean GarmerSeptember 25, 2025
Monster Hunter Stories

Increasingly more and more third-party developers are moving towards a multi-platform strategy as the costs of game development continue to rise and remaining exclusive to one platform may not yield the dividends necessary to recoup the investment. Thus we’ve seen ports of older games whether individually or as part of a collection come to new platforms. One such case is with Xbox, as they announced today during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2025 stream that the complete Monster Hunter Stories series would be making its way to the console.

The Monster Hunter Stories series sees players take on the role of a Rider instead of the typical Hunter that stars in other games in the larger Monster Hunter franchise. The major twist is that the Stories games feature turn-based combat and befriending monsters, instead of the action combat against big monsters of the mainline titles.

The Monster Hunter Stories Series Comes to Xbox

The newest game in the series, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection was announced at a late July Nintendo Partner Showcase with the surprise that it was not a Nintendo console exclusive as the other two games had been in the past. Later on that day, it was revealed that indeed the third game in the franchise would not only come to PlayStation 5, but also Xbox Series X/S as well. Making it the first Monster Hunter Stories title to come to Xbox.

In March 2024, a remastered version of the first Monster Hunter Stories game, along with a port of its sequel, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin but only on PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. Leaving many Xbox gamers wondering if they had been passed over yet again. During the same stream, as part a new trailer showing off more footage of the third game, came the reveal that Xbox would now also receive those same games this year on November 14, 2025. Giving gamers around five months to play the first two games before the third one releases on March 13, 2026.
