AEW Dynamite Recap – 9/24/2025

By Jen RozenSeptember 25, 2025
AEW Dynamite Recap

It’s hump day, and you know what that means! AEW Dynamite is back as we feel the fallout from that amazing ALL OUT PPV last weekend. Let’s jump right into my AEW Dynamite Recap!!!

GOA vs Brodido

The first match was a battle between the AEW World Tag Team Champions Brodido vs GOA. GOA was building momentum after beating The Hurt Syndicate at ALL OUT, so now it was time to see if they could get some gold!

Bandido showed heart, but he was the smallest guy in the match and was manhandled for much of it. He was able to tag Brody, but even he had an uphill battle to face both of them for a period of time. Brody broke free and tagged a refreshed Bandido. I popped when he busted out the macarena dance. One day, Brody will do the dance, and we will all rejoice. GOA was getting so much offense in this match. Ricobald tried to play dirty with a chair shot, but Aubrey ejected him. A-haa! That’s what you get for messing with the best ref in the industry today!

Bandido pinned Bishop Kaun with a 21 plex. GOA looked impressive even after defeat, and this was a really fun way to start off AEW Dynamite.

Alicia was backstage with the Conglomeration. As usual, Mark Briscoe was talking trash to the Don Callis Family. We know who Don picked for their upcoming 3 vs 3 match, but who was the third pick for Mark’s team? I’m REALLY pulling for Fire Ant. It’s Fire Ant or bust for me. But Mark kept going on with his ‘OC’ puns. I’m losing hope here. We also saw another tease for “El Clon”. Let’s hope the eventual matchup for Hologram ends up at a PPV. How about WrestleDream? I know Todd will be there…

Renee had a chat with the new AEW Women’s Champion, Kris Statlander, and her ‘cat sidekick’, Harley Cameron. Kris had a significant pause when asked about her situation with the Deathriders. My heel turn spidey senses are tingling…

Hangman Adam Page Lee Moriarty

Our second match was an AEW World Championship Open Challenge between AEW Men’s World Champion Hangman Adam Page vs ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty. I had to give props to Hangman. After that brutal 38-minute match with Kyle last weekend, he’s going to get stretched by Lee tonight. This is their first-ever encounter. It’s interesting how Lee came out as a babyface in AEW, but a heel in ROH. It was probably because he was in his hometown, and no one is a heel in their hometown…not even MJF.

Taiga Style Lee Moriarty was getting a hometown hero’s welcome, while Hangman was still showing visible signs of neck damage. Lee was putting on a clinic by targeting his neck. Oh no, he had the Border City stretch locked in!!!

But fear not, Hangman countered with an inside-out lariat and a Deadeye, 1-2-3. It was a great showing by Lee. I was hoping the match would go on a little longer to put Moriarty a little more over, but he’s still got time in AEW and ROH to grow.

Afterward, Renee caught up with Cope and checked on Beth’s status after ALL OUT. Cope doesn’t think he can do this anymore after his family was attacked. Christian showed concern and mentioned he doesn’t have a family. Cope mentioned that he does have one. This might lead to future tag team matches between the two…

As if on cue, FTR showed up in the ring to explain their heinous act to Beth at ALL OUT. Cash Wheeler obviously deflected the blame to Cope. Small Stoke should’ve been in a neck brace after Beth destroyed him. Dax’s reasoning wasn’t any better. Someone needed to show up to put them in their place…

Thank goodness Willow arrived and talked some sense into them. She reminded us why Beth was important to many of the women wrestlers who needed a role model. A key line she said was that women like Beth were why she doesn’t take crap from guys like FTR. Ohhh, sick burn! Stokley tried to simmer her down, but Willow slapped him into another dimension! Jetspeed came to Willows’ rescue. This was a great segment. Willow is someone we ALL should adore, and this segment highlighted that perfectly.

MJF cut a promo backstage and talked about being a mid-loser. MJF vowed to put doubt behind him and come back refocused. I don’t know about you, but I think he needs backup.

don callis family konosuke takeshita hechicero kazuchika okada hologram mark briscoe

The third match was a trios match between the Don Callis Family vs The Conglomeration. Who will be the third member for Mark’s team? Don showed off his new ‘painting’ by the talented Mel Coleman. Too bad Orange Cassidy was in it!!!! Briscoe and Hologram followed suit. The background was glitching, so let’s hope El Clon was the culprit…

OC has the laziest top rope plunge. Hechicero was so impressive, and Hologram was having issues with his knee. OC was gone for so long that he thought Okada was still in Chaos. I chuckled. You’ve got to give the people what they want, right? I loved the slow-burning tease between Cinnabon and Okada. Fight forever, you two. Hologram won with the Portal Bomb. This was a fun matchup…and things still weren’t done…

After the match, a wild Protostar appeared. He wanted a piece of Hologram’s 34-0 streak for next week on Dynamite. We’ve been wondering for a while when Hologram would get a title match, and now we know it’ll be on the anniversary show next week!

Hologram Kyle Fletcher

Renee was backstage with Mina. Good luck, Mina!

Next, we saw a vignette with Jack Perry as narrator. One of the reasons why Killswitch was brought back early at All In was that Nick Wayne was injured. Now, we’re going to see Jurassic Express next week on Dynamite! Jurassic Express rides again!!! My favorite line from the vignette was:

“Victims, aren’t we all?”

The fourth match was a Meat Match between Powerhouse Hobbs vs Claudio Castagnoli. Did Daniel Garcia really injure Shibata at ALL OUT?

powerhouse hobbs claudio castagnoli

Watching Claudio being manhandled by a bigger dude was a rare sight. He was able to play dirty and fought back with a couple of backdrops onto the LED screen. As soon as the match started to cook, Pac went in for the distraction. Claudio won with a European uppercut and an inside cradle. This match had so much potential. I hope they have a chance to run it back with NO INTERRUPTIONS!

After the match, Samoa Joe runs (or jogs) out to chase Pac away. Yuta and Danny came in for the assist. It’s four on two now. Luckily, Hangman returned the favor by cleaning house.

The time had come for TK’s important announcement.

My guesses were either an upcoming NJPW collab show, women’s tag team tournament, or ROH TV deal. Let’s see if any of those came true…

Tony Khan important announcement

TK announced that there will be women’s tag team champions in AEW!!! Renee showed us the new hardware:

A tournament wasn’t announced, but we all know how Tony Khan LOVES his tournaments, so it’s likely to start soon and end either at WrestleDream or Full Gear.

With that being said, the main event was between AEW Women’s Champion Kris Statlander vs ROH TV Champion Mina Shirakawa.

Kris Statlander Mina Shirakawa

Mina looked stunning as usual. I’m still trying to get used to Kris’ new theme song. Going into this match, Mina’s strategy was to work on softening Kris’s knee. It made sense because she had a history with her surgically repaired knees. Kris displayed her power with a delayed vertical suplex. After a hard-fought battle, Kris won again with Yuta’s finisher.

After the match, the Deathriders surrounded the ring to congratulate Kris. Moxley gave the nod for her to join them. Yuta congratulated her with a hug. What am I watching? This can’t be!

Luckily, Kris snapped out of the trance and gave a lariat to Yoots. Phew! Stat-Daddy flipped a bird at Mox and ran for the hills with her loving Harley in tow.

Then, to top it all off, Darby made his presence known as he slowly crept to the ring with a flamethrower at hand. The pyromaniac aimed it right at Moxley. I’m sure the Deathriders wished they had that equalizer. Darby called out Mox to an “I Quit” match at WrestleDream. I’m in! And with that announcement, the show ended with an epic stare-down.

UPDATE: Mox had some choice words to Darby after the show:

And that wraps up my recap for this week’s AEW Dynamite Recap!!! What did you think of the show? Let your thoughts be heard!

Other tidbits:

  • I’m really digging those Soul Sports AEW track jackets. Wow, everyone has one. This is ridiculous. I wonder when will they come out?
  • Hangman had cow prints in his gear.
  • Dax Harwood looked like MVP with this nose guard. He should upgrade to this.
  • I’m still a Fire Ant mark. Fire Ant forever!
  • Deathriders are finally at full strength.
  • In the future, I wish the ROH Champions would stop losing on AEW television. Sure, it gets them screen time, but two champs losing in one night wasn’t the best of looks for the brand.

AEW Dynamite 6-year anniversary 10/1/25 matches:

  • Kyle Fletcher vs Hologram (Title vs Streak)
  • Jurassic Express returns
  • Deathriders vs Hangman and Hobbs/Samoa Joe
  • Darby and Stat-Daddy vs Yuta and Marina Shafir (Mixed Tornado Tag Match)

  • Kyle Fletcher vs Komander (TNT Championship open challenge)
  • Jamie Hayter vs. Julia Hart 3
