During Gamescom 2025, a first-person Soulslike called Valor Mortis was revealed. While I wasn’t able to make the trek to Germany, I did get the chance to play the game at PAX West 2025. Now, the developer One More Level is preparing to host a public demo running from October 6 through October 13, 2025.
This pre-alpha playtest includes the game’s full introductory chapter, featuring a boss fight, a mini-boss, 10 levels of player progression, and the first section of the upgrade tree.
If Valor Mortis has piqued your interest, you can sign up at valormortis.firstlook.gg.
As for my impressions, I’ve played countless Soulslikes titles, but experiencing one from a first-person perspective felt refreshingly different. What I played was short and the booth was a bit too crowded for my liking, but I still enjoyed my time with it. I’m looking forward to diving into this demo as much as possible and hopefully dying a little less this time around.
There’s no confirmed release date for Valor Mortis yet, but One More Level has stated it will launch sometime in 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
