Kojima Productions Shows Off Xbox Published OD For The First Time

If you’ve been following Hideo Kojima for as long as I have, you’ll remember that before going independent with Kojima Productions, he worked for Konami. Towards the end of his time there, he was set to develop Silent Hills, a horror game starring Norman Reedus. While this game never saw a full release, it did spawn a cult favourite demo, P.T., which is no longer accessible due to delisting.

Now, ten years after leaving Konami, with two Death Stranding games under his belt, Kojima looks set to return to the horror genre with the Xbox-published title OD. During a celebration of Kojima Productions’ ten-year anniversary, Kojima was joined on stage by Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer. After discussing the partnership between the two companies, Kojima unveiled our first look at OD with a game engine trailer. It seems to be hinting at first-person gameplay, and I must say that the P.T. vibes are real with this one.

The trailer is titled Knock, and you can watch it for yourselves below:

Kojima later revealed Knock is a subtitle. He also spoke about designing the fear of the knock and his thoughts on loud knocking sounds. Kojima confirmed there are many hints in the trailer about OD itself, so if you spot anything, let us know on BlueSky or Discord.

Both Kojima and Phil Spencer spoke about their belief that OD is something truly unique, with Kojima even hinting that the infrastructure for the game is something that has never been done before.

What exactly this means remains to be seen, and we will be keeping a close eye on OD going forward. However, there was much more Kojima Productions news on their anniversary livestream, so I’d highly recommend you give it a watch if you’re a Hideo Kojima fan. You can watch the full stream here.

Jordan has been playing games since the age of six. This ignited a passion which initially led him towards game development before trying his hand in the realm of games media, starting in 2022. It turns out he's quite good at it, even if he doesn't always believe in himself. Now, just a few short years later, not only is Jordan a valued member of our staff here at The Outerhaven, but he also co-owns and helps to run Analog Stick Gaming.
