Hades II v1.0 Launches September 25 with Switch Exclusivity, Retail Edition, and 120fps Support

By Keith MitchellSeptember 12, 2025

Supergiant Games has announced that Hades II will officially leave Early Access and launch in full on September 25, 2025. Along with a brand-new launch trailer, the studio confirmed details about the game’s timed console exclusivity, Switch 2 performance, cross-save support, and a special retail edition.

Let’s get to it, but first, check out the trailer.

Hades II is Finally Hitting Version 1.0

Version 1.0 also introduces cross-save support between PC and Nintendo consoles. If you’ve been playing on Steam or the Epic Games Store and want to continue on the go, you’ll be able to transfer your save data to Switch or Switch 2 through a simple in-game menu.

At launch, Hades II will be available digitally on Steam, the Epic Games Store, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Early Access owners on PC will receive a free update to v1.0, while new players can purchase the game for $39.99 across all available platforms, including pre-orders on Switch and Switch 2.

Both Switch platforms will be the only consoles to get the game at launch thanks to timed exclusivity, which was initially revealed back in April 2025, meaning PlayStation and Xbox players will have to wait. Supergiant has not provided any ETA on when the exclusivity will end or when the game will be available on other consoles.

It is odd that Supergiant Games is calling this a timed exclusive, as this is a repeat of when the first Hades title landed on consoles. At first, Hades was released alongside the PC versions, on September 17, 2020, and then arriving on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, on August 13, 2021. Which was nearly an entire year afterwards. Maybe this time around the wait for the other console versions will be less?

Did You Say 120FPS?

On the technical side, the Nintendo Switch 2 delivers a major upgrade, running the game at 120 frames per second in 1080p while docked and 60 frames per second in handheld mode. The original Switch runs at 60 frames per second in 720p in both modes. Players who pick up the game on Switch can also download a free upgrade to the Switch 2 version if they own both systems.

For players who prefer physical copies, a retail edition of Hades II will arrive for Nintendo Switch 2 on November 20. This version is fully compatible with the original Switch and comes on a physical game card, not just a digital key. The retail package will also include a full-color Character Compendium booklet with artwork, a download code for the game’s nearly four-hour soundtrack, and a reversible cover, all for $49.99 in North America.

Supergiant says this is the studio’s first-ever sequel and the biggest game they’ve ever made, the result of more than four and a half years of development and feedback from the community during Early Access. They thanked players for their support and patience and said they can’t wait to finally share the complete version later this month.
