Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Network Test Concludes, Demo Coming Soon

By Keith MitchellSeptember 3, 2025
Sonic Racing Crossworlds Demo Announcement

Sad news for you all who missed out on the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Open Network Test; it has wrapped. Sega has reportedly seen lots of feedback and has thanked its fans for jumping into the chaos. However, if you missed out on the network test for one reason or another, a single-player demo arrives in mid-September.

Sadly, I was covering PAX West 2025, and I was one of the people who missed out on the network test, but from the people I’ve spoken to who did play it, they simply loved the game. Speaking of which, if you did play the network test, Sega wants to know what you thought about it.

The Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Open Network Test has officially ended! Thank you everyone for participating!

And in case you missed it…
A single-player demo will be released in mid-September!

We hope you keep coming back for more races! ✨

During Summer Game Fest Play Days 2025, we got hands-on with the latest build and impressed by the game. The big highlight was the new Rival mechanic. Before each Grand Prix, the game assigns you a rival with unique dialogue and an AI focus on taking you down. Playing as Wave in a bulldozer against Shadow made the race feel personal, and later rivalries, like Amy Rose, added humor and tension.

CrossWorlds also spices things up with vehicle transformations. Rings on the track can turn your car into a boat or plane, opening alternate routes. Add in hazards like magnets, bombs, and shuriken alongside red coins for bonus points, and the tracks quickly become unpredictable.

More than just another kart racer, CrossWorlds’ rivals, transformations, and customization give it a unique identity. With crossplay confirmed and a demo on the way, Sega looks ready to keep players coming back for more races. So, fan of kart racing will be able to enjoy yet another game, so Mario and crew won’t get all the spotlight.
