Bloober Team Wants To Bring Lots Of Horror Games To Nintendo

They're REALLY passionate about this.

It’s always interesting to hear about the various “visions” or “dreams” that certain video game developers and publishers have. For some, they just want to be successful, which is not a bad thing to desire. Others want to make the video games that they would’ve enjoyed when they were kids, which is rather whole. Then, there’s Bloober Team, who you might know from the Silent Hill 2 Remake from last year and the upcoming Cronos: The New Dawn title. The head of the company revealed that his dream is to bring a lot of horror games to Nintendo via the Switch 2.

If you don’t believe us, you need only look at Piotr Babieno’s interview with The Game Business, where he made his intentions very clear:

“I’m trying to make my personal dreams come true. I am a huge Nintendo fan. I grew up with Nintendo consoles. The most important horrors, like Eternal Darkness, Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil 4… were available on Nintendo GameCube. It was a gold time for Nintendo fans. In some ways, we would like to be the one to open a new chapter for Nintendo right now.”

That’s certainly a unique dream to shoot for, but he’s not wrong. The legendary publisher has dabbled in horror titles over the years, including very recently with the return of Famicom Detective Club, which released a new entry via Emio – The Smiling Man, a game that was M-rated and didn’t hold back on the dark themes.

Yet, the Bloober Team had made it clear that there are other ways to do horror that could appease The Big N’s audience in a grander way:

“The best [example] is Luigi’s Mansion. What [Nintendo game director] Kono-san did with this title was pretty impressive. And I believe that there is a huge possibility to repeat such an idea in the future.”

If this is his dream? Go for it.
