Another game that skipped Steam on Release, Death End re;Quest: Code Z is now available on Steam. It launched earlier this year on PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. If you are a fan of the series, now you can have all three titles in your Steam library to play and show off! This one is a much different game than one of the two mainline titles since it has roguelike elements. It also has a ton of Dead Ends based on losing to enemies and bosses.
I have been playing this game mainly on Steam Deck and it runs pretty well. I imagine this game could have run well on Nintendo Switch, too, if Nintendo of America had let it through. Both the Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth trilogy and Death End re;Quest: Code Z were slated for Nintendo Switch earlier this year. However, they both got axed due to content guidelines. The Neptunia Re;Birth trilogy did get picked up by Eastasiasoft for Nintendo Switch to be released in Asia, but with English support. Idea Factory International decided to pivot and is now releasing the Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth trilogy on PlayStation 4.
If you were hoping to play Death End re;Quest: Code Z portable now, you can with the Steam release. I played through the game initially on PlayStation 5 when I reviewed the title, but I am loving it in a portable mindset. You can quickly do a run for a specific death end for increased passives, then save. You can then wait til you have more time to do a full dungeon run or do another quick run to get a different death end. It definitely feels like it was designed for the Nintendo Switch in mind.
