Another game has been forced to bow down to the unstoppable force that is Hollow Knight: Silksong. This time it’s Baby Steps, the quirky, physics-based walking simulator from Bennett Foddy, Gabe Cuzzillo, and Maxi Boch, and published by Devolver Digital.
Originally set to launch right after Silksong’s surprise release, Baby Steps quickly realized that was a death sentence. The team has now pushed the game back to September 23, 2025, on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.
For those not familiar, Baby Steps follows Nate, an unemployed basement dweller who discovers a unique “talent” — the ability to put one foot in front of the other. Players will guide Nate through serene mountains, strange encounters, and a story that combines humor with existential dread, step by awkward step. It’s clumsy, it’s silly, and it’s from the minds that brought us APE OUT and Getting Over It.
At least the developers are realistic enough to know just how massive Silksong is going to be. The masses are going to swarm that game something fierce, and moving Baby Steps out of the way is a damned smart idea.
