Metroid Prime 4 Beyond Gets More Positive Reception With Gamescom Demo

Release date...when...?
By Todd BlackAugust 20, 2025
Nintendo Direct, Metroid Prime 4, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Metroid Prime 4 Beyond
The new title for the game. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

I love making certain jokes when I write stories, articles, and on the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast. But the joke that just about everyone wants to finally hear the punchline for is, “Are we ever getting the release date to Metroid Prime 4 Beyond?” Nintendo hasn’t given us an update, even though it’s been touted multiple times both this year and last to finally arrive in 2025. Plus, many feel it could be a true system-seller for the Nintendo Switch 2 alongside certain exclusives coming out this year. Sadly, we don’t have an update on the release date, but new words on how the game looks and plays via a certain Gamescom demo are making people excited for the title’s “eventual release.”

Demo impressions seem to indicate that Metroid Prime 4 Beyond is worthy of our time, and definitely worth getting on the Switch 2. Check out the breakdown from Stealth:

Hands on impressions of Metroid Prime 4 at Gamescom are the same as the ones from the Switch 2 Experience events.- Stable 60fps- 4k output – Great use of mouse controls- Overall very impressive

So, if this goes as planned, this will be the most visually stunning game in the series’ history, and possibly the one that plays the best, no matter what control scheme you use. Sadly, we’ll still have to wait on the release date, but given how Nintendo has been acting recently, we could get an announcement tomorrow, or via a personalized Direct, or the next full Nintendo Direct.

We’ll wait for you, Samus!
