He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction is a Childhood Dream Beat ’Em Up

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe_ Dragon Pearl of Destruction

Going into Gamescom ONL 2025, one game I didn’t see on my bingo card was seeing He-Man and friends getting a game, but that’s exactly what happened. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction, which is not only a mouthful, but it is exciting to see a childhood series getting a game. And not just any game, but a retro-inspired beat ’em up, and it’s looking good.

While we were only treated to a mild teaser, there’s still plenty of information that was tossed around. We know that the game will include 4-player co-op, but there wasn’t any mention of whether that’s local/couch, online, or a mixture of the two. The game is also giving off a Dungeons & Dragons Tower of Doom / Shadow of Mystara / Golden Axe vibe. Bureau (Battle Axe, Final Vendetta, Terminator 2D: No Fate) is handling the development, with Limited Run Games handling the publishing duties.

So far, we can see that the following characters will be playable:

  • He-Man
  • Teela
  • Man-at-Arms
  • Evil-Lyn

Interestingly, the trailer states that the game is coming soon. How soon is soon, and when can I get my hands on this?

I can’t wait for more information about to game to be released, and fingers crossed that this turns out to be better than that other game that was based on my childhood, GI Joe: Wrath of Cobra, which I didn’t terribly enjoy.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction will be released on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam).
