Extended Gameplay Trailer for Wild Blue Shows Why Star Fox Fans Should Be Excited

By Keith MitchellAugust 20, 2025
Check out Wild Blue extended gameplay footage

Back in March 2025, we reported on Wild Blue and were already excited about what Chuhai Labs was working on. Now that it’s finally been revealed at the Future Games Show during Gamescom 2025, that excitement feels justified.

We got to see Bowie Stray and the Blue Bombers gear up, hop into their Cloudcutters, and dive straight into battle. Not long after, Chuhai Labs dropped an extended trailer that packed in even more high-octane gameplay. At its core, this is a love letter to those classic on-rails flying games, with Bowie leading the charge across deserts, frozen tundras, and other gorgeous locations while constantly being hounded by Grimclaw and his forces.

And if it feels a bit like Star Fox, there’s a good reason for that, as Star Fox programmer Giles Goddard is heading up this adventure. Wild Blue is a love letter to classic on-rails shooters, infused with modern design and anime-inspired visuals.

Check out the extended gameplay below.

The game mixes old-school shooter action with modern controls, giving players branching missions, cinematic boss fights, squad-based combat, and a scoring system that keeps you coming back for higher runs.

Speaking personally, I’ve always been a fan of the Star Fox series—well, most of the games—and seeing that series put on ice has been disappointing, especially when it reminds me of how Nintendo has handled F-Zero. That’s why Wild Blue hits a little different. It looks stylish, it feels nostalgic, and it might be exactly what fans like me have been waiting for.

For those longing for a true successor to the Star Fox legacy, Wild Blue might be the game that brings us back to the glory days of high-stakes aerial combat. It’s fast, it’s action-packed, and it’s exactly what we’ve been waiting for.

Wild Blue doesn’t have a release date as of yet, but you can wishlist the game on Steam.
