Fallen City Brawl Review (PC) – Short But Satisfying

By Scott AdamsAugust 12, 2025
Video game review template for Fallen City Brawl

We are in the era of a beat ’em up renaissance. More and more studios are getting involved and releasing brawlers, much to the delight of the old-school and rising beat ’em up playerbase. Fallen City Brawl is one such beat ’em up.

Game Name: Fallen City Brawl
Platform(s): PC (Review)
Developer(s): Fallen City Studio
Publisher(s): Eastasiasoft

Release Date: August 12th, 2025
Price: $14.99

Fallen City Brawl has you team up with four different fighters as they are trying to get their city functioning once again. You can play couch co-op or as a solo fighter to clean the streets in this fallen city. The game can also be played via Steam’s Remote Play Together, if you still want to play it online with a friend.

The Good

Fallen City Brawl has a visually distinct pixel art style. The sprites and figures on the screen are giant. They have such impending power in each design of these characters. The four main heroes all have very unique aesthetics. Sergeant Clay’s large posture as he holds a shotgun, or even Natasha’s slightly smaller figure but just as imposing with her toned muscles, this art style wants you to see the power in each sprite.

Fallen City Brawl is a blast to play, especially with a friend. At first, I was disappointed that it was only a two-player game with couch co-op, but after seeing the giant sprites and how they occupy almost a quarter of the screen, it makes sense that they wouldn’t implement four-player co-op. If you do the normal combo, you have a small amount of time to start up another combo, or if you are smart with a friend, you can have them start a combo right after you are done and start juggling enemies so they can’t retaliate. It was quite humorous that you could even do this to bosses. Some bosses just got stuck in a juggle that I started against a normal enemy, and when a friend would do their combo, that boss would get destroyed.

Each character has a close-range combo and a far-range attack. You can also use riots, super riots, and chaos attacks. Riots are like a special attack that can hurt a lot of enemies at once, with Super Riot also increasing your stats and passives. Chaos attack is only used when the gems are completely full, and it does a massive boost passively to the character that uses it, but it also attracts chaos enemies that are super strong.

The Bad

Bosses did not feel very impactful in Fallen City Brawl. You can juggle bosses, and even their life bar is just slightly bigger than some of the normal enemies. I would have loved it if they had a life bar that filled the screen and stayed on the screen so that you knew the boss is here and ready to brawl. Sadly, the boss’s health shows up like the other normal enemies in the game, where they only show up when you attack them. The HP shows up under your own HP bar.

Once you finish the game, there isn’t much of a reason to play Fallen City Brawl except to play as a different character. There aren’t any collectibles or unlockables in the game, which can be a sour taste if you are someone who wants to get more from your game.

I played for 62 minutes in total in Fallen City Brawl, which includes two total playthroughs in the game. This game is quite quick, especially when you are doing couch co-op. It isn’t too bad a time frame for a beat ’em up, but it doesn’t feel like a buildup to the final fight in the game.

The Verdict

Fallen City Brawl is a very fun but bite-sized beat ’em up brawler. It could have probably been better executed, but when you play the game, you generally don’t care too much. It is a fun game to play with a friend. Though you probably won’t want to play it again afterwards without any unlockables.

Fallen City Brawl is available on PC.

Fallen City Brawl is a fun beat ’em up experience, but it doesn’t have any replay value. I also wish there was a bit more substance to the story in levels.
