Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids Will Offer A Friend’s Pass At Launch

Did you enjoy X-COM back in the day, just like I did? Then you may remember a few months ago, X-COM creator Julian Gollop announced a new strategy game called Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids. So, what exactly is the game, and what do we know about it so far?

Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids is a 3rd-person real-time strategy co-op game, and it looks like a boatload of weird and wacky fun. You may have even played it already, as there was a demo available on Steam in February 2025. I didn’t get the chance to play it unfortunately, so I’ll wait to try the full game.

If you’re like me and late to the Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids party, then you can check out the reveal trailer below:

If you want to play this with a friend, then I have fantastic news for you. At launch, Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids will not only support cross-play, but it will also come with a Friend’s Pass similar to those you find in Hazelight Studios games.

Here is what the developers, Snapshot Games, had to say regarding Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids Friend’s Pass:

In the spirit of the dynamic in-game duo of Chip and Clawz, Friend’s Pass will allow players who own the game to invite a friend to play for free, with crossplay options enabled for PlayStation, Xbox and PC. With Friend’s Pass, as long as one of the players owns the full game, both players can play the full campaign via online co-op and play all the PvP maps available at launch! Along with having the ability to join a friend’s online game session for free, Friend’s Pass owners have the option to play the first four singleplayer levels for free to get an introduction to the game and learn how to play.

Alongside the reveal of Friend’s Pass, the developers also gave us a first look at the multiplayer with a brand-new trailer. Check it out for yourself below:

As you can see, the multiplayer features classic 1v1 and 2v2 PvP battles online or offline, 2-player online and offline co-op, and more! It looks like it could be a lot of fun, but time will tell. A rumor around the Chip ‘n Clawz world is that the game’s release date will be revealed very soon. So, we hopefully won’t have too long to wait! Strategy game fans, prepare for multiplayer mayhem in epic army battles with or against your friends in this multiplayer action real-time strategy adventure.

Jordan has been playing games since the age of six. This ignited a passion which initially led him towards game development before trying his hand in the realm of games media, starting in 2022. It turns out he's quite good at it, even if he doesn't always believe in himself. Now, just a few short years later, not only is Jordan a valued member of our staff here at The Outerhaven, but he also co-owns and helps to run Analog Stick Gaming.
