I’m very proud to say that I’m a fan of All Elite Wrestling, and have written various things about it in the last month (with more on the way!) One of the things I’m most grateful to AEW for is signing the “Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay to their roster in 2024. He’s been a huge injection of fun and epic wrestling into the brand, and he’s easily my favorite wrestler in the world right now. One of the reasons for that is he’s a huge gamer himself, and Tekken 8 seems to know that, because they adapted his finishing move into the game for its upcoming DLC character, Armor King!
Now, AEW fans know that Will Ospreay has multiple finishing moves. So, allow me to be specific here by stating that Tekken 8 put the “Stormbreaker” into the game, and Ospreay himself went onto Twitter to talk about it!
One of the first games I owned on the PS1 was Tekken. Can't believe Stormbreaker is in the game now. Time to learn Armor King @TEKKEN pic.twitter.com/CgPr7FsT8B

So, yeah, that alone is a cool thing, but it got even better when the man behind the game quoted Ospreay’s post to show that this apparently was an intentional thing:

So, yeah, Harada apparently knows good wrestling! Go figure. Now, if only we can get Ospreay into the game as a DLC character… Hey, they put Negan in a past game, and they have a fighting bear, so this wouldn’t be that odd!
In the meantime, check out my feature about why I felt AEW All In Texas (in which Ospreay had a 5-star match at) might have been the best PPV I’ve ever seen.
