Battlefield 6 Developers Promise to Fight Cheaters with Strong Anti-Cheat System

Vince Zampella, director of the Battlefield series and head of Respawn Entertainment, promised in an interview with Gaming World Media that the creators of Battlefield 6 would put all their efforts into fighting cheaters.

Zampella explained,

It’s something that’s weird because you don’t want to talk about what you’re doing because it gives people who are trying to cheat a head start against you. It’s a huge thing in the gaming industry. It’s a constant arms race that we’re always putting a lot of effort into. Know that it’s something we would stamp out completely if we could. It’s just an arms race, and we will be fighting it until the day we die.

Battlefield 6 will use EA’s proprietary software, Javelin Anticheat. The Steam page has already mentioned the anti-cheat system with kernel-level integration. Javelin Anticheat was first used in and has since been refined in other projects like Madden, F1, and more. It will be included in the beta version of Battlefield 6.

Players often raise concerns about using third-party software like Denuvo, especially programs that operate at the kernel level. Some of these concerns are valid, such as the incompatibility with Linux and SteamOS, or problems on Steam Deck. However, the alternative is losing game integrity because of hackers and cheaters.

Battlefield 6 will be released on October 10 for PC and consoles. Starting August 9, players will be able to join the open beta tests of the new shooter.
