Street Fighter VI: Sagat CPU Gameplay Footage Revealed And More

By Kevin KellyJuly 30, 2025
Street Fighter VI Sagat

The Emperor of Muay Thai is making his way back to the World Warrior stage on August 5th for Street Fighter VI. While a lot still needs to be revealed for Sagat, Capcom wasted no time in providing outlets with his first CPU gameplay. Gamespot’s US trailer coverage handled some mirror matches of the king.

The man is a menace in this trailer, and his select pose shows it. After both characters are selected, Sagat towers over his opponent. This feels like a homage to Bengus’ Street Fighter Alpha 2 cover. The tiger in the background follows each move and moves along with the fight in Sagat’s stage.

IGN Japan takes a different approach with their trailer. This time, we’ve got Sagat’s fights against M Bison, Zangief, Mai, Marisa, Ryu, and, of course, himself. IGN Japan also shows off some of Sagat’s Combo Trials as well as his story in Arcade Mode. Furthermore, Sagat’s new kick special, along with its follow-ups, is demonstrated in this video through the Character Guide. Tiger Nexus seems to have 3 options that can work as an overhead or launcher. Tiger Knee is now a fireball motion instead of the original DP.

Sagat’s Level Two Super, known as Savage Tiger, is a grab move that can be one of 4 things as the finisher. Neutral starts the party with a homage to his Tiger Raid super move with the jumping flaming side kick. Pressing Forward does a launcher from one of his normals. Pressing Back switches sides after some knees. Pressing Down just mashes Sagat’s opponent to the ground with elbows.

Sagat gets his back Roundhouse kick from Street Fighter IV, which is an awesome anti-air. All in all, a solid start for the king, and the full character breakdowns have yet to be revealed from Capcom’s forthcoming character guide. Sagat will be joined by C. Viper, Alex, and Ingrid in the Year 3 set.

Street Fighter VI’s Year 3 kicks off on August 5th on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4 | 5, Xbox Series X | S, and PC.
