New Game+ launches on July 29, 2025, and becomes available once you complete the final story mission and the credits finish rolling. Starting a New Game Plus will reset your story progression, objectives, and discovered locations. However, your character level, gear, skill points, Knowledge Rank, and Hideout progress will all carry over, giving you a fresh challenge without losing your hard-earned upgrades.
When launching New Game+, you can choose to start again from the very beginning, reliving the important events of the Tensho War in Iga – or you can fast-forward after the prologue to the moment Naoe inherits ownership of the Hideout. Either way, we made sure that none of the basic tutorials would bother you on your second playthrough.
Alongside the release of New Game+, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will receive some progress changes. Firstly, there will be a level cap increase from 60 to 80 for all players, whether you’re playing in New Game Plus or not. This update will also introduce brand new Knowledge Ranks, new Mastery and Knowledge Skill ranks, and new upgrades for all Hideout buildings, including new upgrades for Heiji’s Forge. One upgrade is coming with New Game Plus, and one is coming with a later summer update.
In September, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will receive a huge quality-of-life update that includes many things. From unlocked frame-rates during cutscenes, for PC players, to skipping time of day, and much more. Finally, as part of this summer roadmap Ubisoft has revealed the release date for the upcoming expansion to Assassin’s Creed Shadows titled Claws Of Awaji. So, when exactly is it releasing, and what do we know about it so far?
Well, Claws of Awaji will drop on September 16th, 2025. If you pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you’ll be able to play the expansion for free! Otherwise, you’ll need to purchase it separately. Keep in mind, Claws of Awaji unlocks only after completing the main story of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
